November 18 Grassroots Change Newsletter
November 18, 2015
In November 2014, we posted our state preemptionpredictions for the 2015 legislative sessions. As predicted, the opponents of local control were aggressive in introducing and promoting preemptive state legislation on dozens of issues. The good news is that advocates for public health, safety and workers’ rights succeeded in slowing and stopping preemptive proposals in many states.
Our state Preemption Map has undergone an update and can now be accessed on tablets! The updated design makes it easier to use and view on a range of devices, including iPads. The Grassroots Change Preemption Mapcovers six issues: e-cigarettes, factory farms, guns, nutrition, paid sick days, and smokefree laws.
